Although the main office of "Gap-Year.com" is located in England, the company is international in aspect and serves clients from around the world.
The term "Gap Year" comes from the British and is loosely defined as the year that a high school graduate takes off before entering college or university. Historically this has not been part of the American culture as most often students go directly from high school on to further education. However, this trend is changing and many high school graduates are deciding to take some time between this major transition to work, travel, and, in many cases, study abroad.

The CT Parent Advocacy Center, Inc.
The CT Parent Advocacy Center, Inc. (CPAC) is a statewide nonprofit organization that offers information and support to families of children with any disability or chronic illness, age birth through 26. The Center is committed to the idea that parents can be the most effective advocates for their children, given the confidence that knowledge and understanding of special education law and its procedures can bring. In addition to speaking with parents on a daily basis, CPAC staff conducts in-service presentations for schools, teachers-in-training and service providers throughout the state so that they may better understand and serve the parents with whom they work.
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
This site, authored by Dr. Simon Epstein, contains information about Attention Deficit Disorder -- a condition that affects five to eight per cent of children and up to six per cent of adults. Key to the successful treatment of ADD is patient and family understanding of the condition, and how it can affect day-to-day living. Past and present newsletters, as well as a "Monthly NewsNote" provide families with up-to-date essential information.
CACLD
The Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities is a regional, non-profit organization that supports individuals, families, and professionals by providing information, education, and consultation while promoting public awareness and understanding. CACLD's goal is to ensure access to the resources needed to help children and adults with learning disabilities and attention disorders achieve their full potential.
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
The largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.
